Dear Sahuarita Families:

We understand that today has been challenging for our Sahuarita school community, particularly for those with loved ones at Walden Grove. Rest assured, the safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority. Any potential threats are taken seriously, and we are committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels secure.

At around 10:15 am, the Sahuarita Police Department received a call from an anonymous individual that a person was at Walden Grove High School threatening to harm the school. Without delay, the police responded promptly and alerted Walden Grove, initiating an immediate lockdown.

A thorough search of the campus, including classrooms, bathrooms, and fields, was conducted by the police, yet no unauthorized persons, weapons, or dangerous devices were found. Following the initial sweep, a comprehensive second search was carried out.

By 12:50 pm, the police had completed their sweep, and the campus lockdown was lifted. Thankfully, no safety issues were detected, and normal activities resumed with ongoing police presence for the remainder of the day.

This incident appears to be a hoax known as "swatting," where false reports of an active shooter are made, often via internet-based phone numbers. The Sahuarita Police Department is actively investigating the matter.

We urge our students and school community to remain vigilant and report any potential threats to school safety. Collaboration with local law enforcement remains a priority in addressing such situations.

Our heartfelt thanks go to law enforcement for their swift response and dedicated efforts in keeping our schools safe. We commend our staff and students for their effective handling of the situation and their adherence to security protocols. Furthermore, we would like to express our gratitude to our parents for their trust and cooperation throughout this incident.
